Mixed Media Collage on Smooth Fine Art Paper 320 gsm with hand finished 24 carat gold leaf. This collage uses photographs taken by the artist of skulls and relics in Europe. The central figure of the angel and the gold cross were taken in Gloucester Cathedral. The work is an exploration of “MEMENTO MORI” which translates from Latin as “remember you must die”. The angel also holds an inscription which says “blessed is the man that endureth”. The butterflies represent the metamorphosis of life and transformation of life from birth to death. The skulls represent death and our own fragile mortality.
